Flaps in Head and Neck Surgery

Head and neck surgery is an important specialty area as the surgery in this critical region involves many crucial anatomic structures that play vital roles in human’s life. The surgery at this region will indefinitely leads to aesthetic concerns and sequalae. Many of surgery performed for the head and neck regions are significant such as those that addressed the facial trauma, facial skin chronic diseases or head and neck tumours. Head and neck tumours constitute about 3% of all tumours and the majority of these tumours need surgery as part of the mainstay of the treatment. To perform surgery at the regionof head and neck is particularly challenging and complex as this region contains critical neurovascular structure and it poses cosmesis issues if it is not properly performed. It is prerequisite to maintain the
aesthetic as well as the facial balance in any of the surgery conducted at the facial and neck region.
