The Design of Cognitive-based Navigation Aids for better Online Interaction

The process of web based interaction for blind people is entirely different from that of sighted users. The interaction with online resources for blind people is a listening activity rather than a reading one. Blinds need assistive devices and special technologies to access and read web contents, and to interact with online applications properly. Web designers assume that blind people are also typical users, except that they perceive information nonvisually. As compared to their sighted counterparts, blind users on an average are half as likely to complete web based tasks. Successful design of online content should consider the requirements and needs of blind users as compared to their sighted counterparts.
