Infection is serious with high morbidity and mortality; treatment can be prolonged and difficult with marked tendency to recur. However, a high index of clinical suspicion is required for diagnosis. With growing population of the immunocompromised, it can be assumed that many of these infections go unreported and are largely under-diagnosed.
